A child does not dislike their mother because of her looks, nor does a dog dislike their owner because of their poverty. Beauty is accepted and welcomed by all people. However, physical appearances do not hinder the affection that children bear towards their mothers. Rather, affection is derived from the sincerity and heart that children, in turn, receive from their parents. Thus, it is the conclusion that nothing stands between the love between mother and child, child and mother.

If a child were to despise their mother because of her outward features, then this is both the result of a lack of motherly love and the wrongful regard of parents as decorative objects. Overall, this is the effect of an improper upbringing and/or the skewing of wisdom originally taught by the parents.

Even dogs recognize and remain loyal to their owners and do not turn their disloyalty for reasons of poverty

It is common for an individual to change after being promoted to a higher status. When people question this individual's change, they respond by either faulting their peers, environment and the world. This leads to a further reaffirmation in the individual's negative transformation. Peers, the environment and world are not to blame for an increase in one's pride, only the individual themselves. Then, what lies in the core of change?

In truth, is it not the surfacing of one's deepest desires that conquers their thoughts and actions? In this case, change is clearly apparent, because humbleness prevented the over-ruling of selfish ambitions. Therefore, even with success and advancements, one should never forget their gentle and courteous ways.

Change is inevitable. However, there are two forms of change: those induced by others and those self-induced. The change we must fight against are changes meant for other's preferences.

So, how can we differentiate between rightful, needed changes? This question can only be answered by your own self. Do not be afraid to answer this question, because everyone retains the clarity to pave their own path.

This picture was taken in 1970.  The student in this picture is currently a 5th Dan, and is an instructor.

At the bottom of the sign in this picture is evidence that this dojo joined the Korean Government Education Center program in 1970.  This program made each dojo have certain requirements, such as a changing room, office, and washroom, as well as determining the minimum sizes for each room of the dojo.  It also ensured that the instructors had background checks and were only allowed to register if they had a clean criminal record.  This was optional for all entities providing education.  Before this time, each dojo was allowed to teach without certification.  When a new president came into office, the program was made mandatory, otherwise fines were issued.

The inscription at the bottom roughly translates to "Pyongtaek Education Center License Number 39."

This is Brian (Brown Belt) attacking Jacob (Blue Belt).  Jacob defends with Four Corner Throw, Wrist Turn-Out, and Hip Throw basic techniques.  Hapkido training involves two people taking turns attacking and then defending.  One time you get thrown, and the next time you get to throw!  We always enjoy both throwing and being thrown.
